A loan of $4,775 helped a member to buy chickens to be fried and sold.

Sheraton Group's story

Rukia, in her late thirties, is married and a mother of three sons who are at school. She supports her family by running a business. She buy chickens, fries them and sells them from morning to 11 p.m. daily. Rukia is able to make a good profit each month. She is so happy with Kiva's support and she believes her business will grow more with it. Rukia is so thankful with everyone who supports her group. Rukia has been in this business for ten years.

This will be Rukia's seventh loan request via Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans, which she repaid successfully, to buy more chickens for her business. Rukia earned profit, which she used to build a house and to cover part of school fees and household expenses. In the coming years, Rukia would like to raise her own chickens instead of buying, and become better off in life. She will use her new loan to buy chickens to be fried and sold.

Rukia and the other Sheraton group members will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
