Los Girasoles (Cuenca) Group's story

The Communal Bank "Los Girasoles" (The Sunflowers) is formed by 7 members. Each of them actively contributes to the group. They have been together several years and their main goal is to improve their financial stability and provide more opportunities for their families to get ahead. They live in the city of Cuenca, which boasts natural and architectural beauty. The city has been named a World Heritage City since December 1999 and it is the birthplace of great sportsmen and writers.
One of the members of this group is Miryam. She is 27 years old, married and has 2 children aged 9 and 5 who study at a local school. Her husband is a tailor and they own their house.
Miryam works as a housewife and in order to contribute to the household economy she raises and sells pigs, guinea pigs and laying hens. She also works as a farmer, producing crops for selling and for family consumption. The loan money is to purchase pigs and animal feed as well as to pay for her children's studies. Her dream is to be debt-free.

In this group: Dora Angelica, Jessica Catalina, Maclovia Honorina, Miryam Cecilia, Lourdes Olivia, Erika Maribel, Angela Elizabeth
