Prosperidad (Cuenca) Group's story

The "Properidad" ["Prosperity"] credit group is made up of 11 female members and one male, who carry out various activities that enable them to improve their economic situations. They are kind, courteous people who still maintain the traditions of their people. They live in different areas of the city of Cuenca, which is bathed by four rivers and is a "Cultural Heritage of Man" site since December of 1999. There are varied and beautiful places to visit, and the gastronomy of this city is very diverse, captivating the palates of locals and foreigners alike.

One of the members of this group is Señora Catalina. She is 23 years old, lives in a common-law marriage, and has one two-year-old daughter. Her husband works in the construction field. They own the house they live in.

Catalina earns her living selling fruit, an activity she has carried out since she was practically a child, since her mother brought her into this work. She works from Sunday to Sunday without a fixed schedule. She is also studying in a university of the city; she is in the third year of the economics program. The money from her loan is to pay for her education and to buy fruits for her business. Her goal is to finish her education and be a professional.

In this group: Ana María, Adriana Priscila, Mercedes Lorena, Maribel Isabel*, Manuel Rene De Jesús, Catalina Isabel, Jennifer Lizeth, Trancito Esperanza, María Del Pilar*, Ana Rosalia, María José, Elsa Beatriz
