Gladys's story

Gladys is a 20-year-old businesswoman from the Shurugwi District of Zimbabwe. She has been selling clothes, shoes, and blankets for six months now. She was encouraged by other Cama (Camfed's alumnae organization) members to venture into entrepreneurship so that she could look after herself and her siblings. Gladys also volunteers as a Camfed Learner Guide and assists school children with their studies every week. With the Kiva loan, Gladys intends to purchase more clothes, shoes, and blankets from wholesalers. This will help her maximize sales and profits. With the additional profits, Gladys intends to further her education. She would like to enroll in a teachers’ college and train to become a primary school teacher.
