Sabitri Shg Group's story

Sabitri Self Help Group is composed of nine women from a small village in the Cuttack district of Odisha, India. All the members of this group are involved in activities such as vegetable cultivation, milk selling, paddy and maize cultivation, etc. They are very hardworking women with a willingness to learn new business trends. They all help and support each other. Whatever they are earning from their businesses is used for their monthly household expenses.

One of the group members, Bilasini, is the president of this group. The lady standing with her hand raised is Bilasini. Bilasini is 31 years old and lives with her husband and one child, who is 10 years old. She does vegetable cultivation. She produces vegetables, such as tomatoes, potatoes, cauliflowers, brinjals, lady fingers, onions, etc., and sells them at the market. Her husband is a farmer. He helps Bilasini sell vegetables at the market.

Bilasini is planning to buy standard-quality seeds, fertilizers and pesticides so she can produce more vegetables and increase her income. Bilasini along with her group members is asking for a loan to invest in her business activities. Bilasini will use her portion to purchase standard-quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides for her vegetable cultivation. She wants to give a better education to her children.
