A loan of $325 helped to purchase bananas and implements used to ripen them.

David's story

David is 23 years old, single, and still lives with his parents in their home along with his brothers. His whole life he has known how to cultivate citrus fruits and bananas, as it is the primary means of sustenance for the family. He rises at 6:00 am, eats breakfast, and goes to the farm. It’s been two months since he decided to get involved in the business of ripening green bananas to offer for sale later. He is seeing that his neighbors do very well for themselves with this activity. He tells us that when he goes to the farm, he would give his wife this task which would generate additional income. The difficulty that he would have is the lack of necessary accessories for the process of ripening the bananas. This is the first time he requests a loan with MFP. He will use some of the funds as working capital to purchase a certain quantity of bananas. He will also buy buckets and large tins for submerging the bananas, and use another part to continue investing in his lands.
