A loan of $3,625 helped a member to buy wholesale bedspreads.

Kiswaritas Group's story

Kiswaritas community bank is starting its first cycle with Pro Mujer through Panamericana regional hub. It comprises eight members and is run by a Board of Directors of which Lourdes is the President. The businesses run by the members of this communal bank are diverse. They include a call center, a sewing shop, an Internet cafe, selling women's shoes, selling food, and selling vegetables. The loan they are requesting will benefit small entrepreneurs in Lourdes' group. She says she joined Pro Mujer two years ago through an invitation from one of their promotion campaigns. She currently has a business selling bedspreads. She says she started this business several years ago and learned it from her mother, who runs the same kind of business. The loan she is now requesting is to increase capital by purchasing wholesale bedspreads, which she will buy from wholesale retailers in the city of Oruro. She will then sell them in her shop. This work allows her to generate resources to support her family, since she is single and lives with her mother. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says she likes the insurance offered by the organization.
