A loan helped to purchase more fertilizer.

Jane's story

Jane A. O. lives in Rongo, Kenya, where she sells fertilizer to the rural farmers in the area. She has had a consistent supply of satisfied, repeat customers for the three years she has been in business.

Twice a week, Jane purchases 10 sacks of fertilizer from Kisii, a small town that is a 45-minute drive from Rongo. In order to save both time and money on transportation, she would like to be able to travel there just once a week and buy 20 sacks of fertilizer, the reason she is requesting a loan of $400.

Jane is the married breadwinner of a family of five, two members of whom are disabled and require extra support. Jane maintains her sense of humor even in a difficult situation, humbly and laughingly referring to herself as “just a local woman jumbling around town, trying to make some money.”
