The "Keur Safadi 3" group consists of two women who are actively involved in agriculture. Diama, the tallest woman in the photo, grows cabbage, carrots and eggplants. She owns a piece of land behind the house where she lives, and she will use her loan to buy seeds and fertilizers. The profits from the sale of her garden vegetables will be used to help her husband cover the day-to-day expenses of the household. In addition to her farming activity, Diama would also like to sell cosmetic products. She would actually give this activity to her daughter who would run it. This will allow her to maximize her profits and to improve her family's food conditions.

Le groupe appelé Keur Safadi 3 regroupe des femmes qui s’activent dans l’agriculture. La dame Diama qui est la plus forte sur la photo, fait de la culture maraichère de choux, carottes aubergine. Elle possède un espace derrière la maison où elle loge et profite de ce crédit pour acheter des semences et de l’engrais. Les bénéfices de la vente sont destinés à aider à la dépense quotidienne du foyer. Diama désire associer la vente de produits cosmétiques à son activité, elle donnera à sa fille qui le gérera. Cela permettra de maximiser les profits et d’améliorer les conditions alimentaires de la famille.

To reach borrowers who would not normally qualify for loans, UIMCEC has developed partnerships with a number of local organizations created by the poor to promote savings and mutual support. Most members of these organizations take group loans from UIMCEC. Some group members have larger businesses requiring more capital, and therefore receive individual loans. To meet their needs, UIMCEC is offering this loan at a lower interest rate with no material guarantee requirement. By supporting this loan, you are helping poor borrowers access credit at  lower interest rates.


This loan is administered by UIMCEC, a Kiva Field Partner in Senegal since 2008. UIMCEC is a government-regulated microfinance institution whose mission is to improve the revenue and well-being of families through access to financial services, allowing principally women and young adult micro-entrepreneurs living in rural and semi-rural areas to develop their revenue-generating businesses and supporting them in becoming financially self-sufficient.
