A loan of $900 helped to buy sugarcane to stock his business.

Edilfredo's story

Edilfredo, 35, lives in the district of Callayuc. It is a calm community with a varied climate. The local people work in agriculture, commerce and livestock. This district is located in the province of Cutervo in the Cajamarca region in the northern mountains of Peru.

Edilfredo makes a living distilling aguardiente using a traditional method called "El trapiche". This method consists of extracting sugarcane juice and then boiling and purifying it, thereby making the liquor called aguardiente or llonque.

He has applied for a loan of 2,500 Peruvian new soles from Edpyme Alternativa to buy a larger quantity of sugarcane, the raw material for his business.
