A loan of $3,375 helped a member to buy seasonings wholesale.

Rompe Corazones Group's story

The “ROMPE CORAZONES” [Heartbreakers] communal association will stary its fourth cycle in Pro Mujer as a part of the Santiago II center. It is made up of eight members and led by a board of directors of which Ana is the President. The businesses that the members of the communal association have are varied. Among them are: selling food, selling api (a traditional drink), selling seasonings, a mechanic's shop, selling t-shirts, a hair salon, a gas installation service, and hand made blankets.

The loan they will take out will benefit the micro-businesswomen, including Ana. She says that she joined Pro Mujer three years ago at the invitation of a friend who is a client of the institution. Right now, she has a business selling seasonings. She reports that she started this business to help her mother when she was a girl, because her mother worked in the same business. She says she decided to go off on her own because she needs resources for her education.

The loan she will take out now is to increase capital (buying seasonings wholesale). She will acquire them from wholesale distributors and later sell them in the markets of the city of El Alto. This type of work allows her to generate resources to finance her education.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the trainings and the health care the institution offers.
