A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase fertilizers and chemicals for plants.

Shoghik's story

Shoghik is a farmer from Ghukasavan village in the Ararat region. She lives there with her husband, son and daughter. The family has been running a farm for many years. In particular, they cultivate tomatoes, greens, garlic and potatoes. As this is the family's only revenue source, all the four members are involved in agricultural activities. Shoghik's husband and son sell the agricultural products in local markets. The family's agribusiness needs some investments to function more efficiently. That's why Shoghik has applied for a loan of USD 1,000. The requested amount will be used to pay for 15 bags of fertilizer and buy chemicals for plants. As this is Shoghik's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products in the past because they have no credit history.
