A loan of $750 helped to purchase high yielding cacao trees.

Julio's story

Julio is a new cacao farmer who lives in the beautiful village of Big Falls, in the Toledo district of southern Belize. He is eager to join the cacao industry because he sees cacao farming as a beneficial long-term investment for himself and his family. He also believes that cacao is a sustainable agricultural crop, that is both good for the environment, and will help develop his local community.

Julio is requesting assistance to get a Kiva microloan so that he can purchase grafted, high-yielding, disease resistant cacao seedlings. He plans to use the revenue generated from his cacao crop to educate his children and improve his family’s lifestyle.
