A loan of $625 helped a member to pay for labour costs, farming inputs and seeds.

Benkadi Vi Group's story

The nine members of the Benkadi VI Group are married women with an average age of 35 and an average of two children each. They all live within polygamous family frameworks in Komo, one of the villages found in Tiélé in Koulikoro Region, the second administrative region of Mali. They are collaborating with the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution so that they can see through their agricultural activities during the winter period. This is their sixth loan with Soro Yiriwaso. Kadia, the woman standing in the middle of the back row in the photo, grows peanuts and rice. With this loan, she is planning on purchasing farming inputs and seeds, as well as paying for the labour costs to maintain half a hectare of land. After the harvest, the produce will be sold in Tiélé to a customer base made up of resellers and consumers. She is planning on making a profit of 25,000 FCFA with each harvest, which will allow her to pay off the loan and help her husband with their daily living expenses.
