Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,000 helped to buy compost, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides.

Oscar Rene's story

Oscar lives with his mother and his siblings. He is married. As a way of having income with which he can cover his personal expenses and contribute to the family expenses, he raises basic grains (corn, sorghum, and beans) and does work as a mason. Oscar was abroad, and he came back to the country in search of work in a business of his own in order to better himself.

He will invest in the purchase of compost, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides. With the help of these supplies, he will give his crops better treatment, with which he hopes to have better income that will help him to begin to raise pigs.

His goal is to expand his business little by little in order to continue having income with which he will help his family and pay off his debt.
