A loan of $500 helped to buy clothes and shoes in bulk.

Nomathemba's story

Nomathemba, 26, is a single lady with one child and lives in the Kwekwe District of Zimbabwe. She has been successfully running a flea market stall for six months now where she sells ladies’ clothes and shoes.

As a Cama Learner Guide Nomathemba volunteers several hours a week assisting girls with guidance and counseling. She also cleans the school’s toilets so that students can have a clean learning environment. Her volunteer work is a way she repays the interest on her loan. (See an explanation of these loans below.)

With her 500 USD loan through Camfed, Nomathemba intends to buy clothes and shoes in bulk from wholesalers at lower costs. She will then be able to sell these items at favorable prices and become competitive. She hopes to expand her business with the increased profits, create employment and improve the quality of life for herself and her child.
