Maa Dhanalaxmi Shg Group's story

In 2014, 11 women from a village stepped out and formed a group called Maa Dhanalaxmi Self-Help Group in Odisha. They help each other and share their problems and solve the problems among themselves. They celebrate their festivals together in their village.

Gitanjali, leader of the group, has six goats. The lady standing with her raised hand is Gitanjali. She purchases the goat kids from the market and takes care of them. She provides vaccines and fodder to them when it is required. She sells them for meat to the local butcher shops when they are full grown. It takes eight to nine months for her to have them ready to sell.

Gitanjali goes out in the morning to leave the goats to graze in the fields and returns by noon. Then she cooks for her family. She resumes taking care of her goats by feeding them at home. Her husband assists her in selling and maintaining these goats. In this way she is earning to manage her cash flow, which is not sufficient to manage her daily needs.

Gitanjali wants to enlarge her business, so she wants to purchase 10 more goats. In this way she can earn a good amount after all expenditures in her business. She has requested this loan with her group so that they can earn more and they will control their families' cash flow.

In this group: Gitanjali, Sumitra, Santilata, Kalpana, Sulochana, Sulochana, Basanti, Manju, Mamata, Jayanti, Tilotama
