A loan of $1,075 helped to buy shoes to sell.

Fátima Gabriela's story

In the sector known as Estancia Vieja in the Colon parish within the city of Portoviejo, the members of the Communal Bank “Estancia Vieja” meet every 15 days. The humble people who live in this place are devoted to agriculture and general trade.

Sra. Fátima lives in this place. She is 27 years old, in a common-law relationship, and has two children (ages 5 and 2). Her older child is in school. Her husband is a master electrician.

With the intent of earning some income on her own and helping her husband with the household expenses, Doña Fátima began selling shoes through catalogs by going door-to-door. She also sells from her home to customers who visit her. Fátima sells on credit and collects payment every 15 days. She started this business with one of the loans she received from her group. For this reason, she is very grateful that it helped her and her family to get ahead.

This loan will be used to buy shoes. Fátima has participated in three loan cycles with her Communal Bank and enjoys being a member because she was able to start her business. Her dreams include providing the best for her children.
