Moukahirou's story

Mr Moukahirou was born in January, 1967 in Samogossoni, Sikasso. He is married, father of nine children, and lives with his spouse in a traditional family in Samogossoni, a village in the Sikasso commune, the third largest administrative region in the republic of Mali. He is working with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out his farming business during the rainy season. He is on his first loan with Soro Yiriwaso. He grows corn and this loan will enable him to buy 16 50-kg bags of fertilizer, 16 containers of different herbicides, and to pay for the labor costs of maintaining four hectares. After the harvest, the output is sold at the village level in Sikasso to a clientele of men and women, for cash and credit. He expects to earn an average profit of 680,000 francs CFA per season. This profit will enable him to repay his loan, the interest, and to contribute to his family's household expenses.
