Al Shames Group
In this Group: Ibtikar, Suzan, Basima
Ibtikar is the featured borrower of Al Shames group. She got together with the other group members to acquire a loan from Kiva's field partner Al Majmoua because they have always been neighbors and friends and they are seeking the best for their families' living development.

Ibtikar is a 37-year-old married mother of four, who has been running her grocery store for 14 years, to support her beloved husband who works as a blacksmith and a van driver in covering their increasing family needs.

Ibtikar is a hard worker with a very good reputation in her region. Her loan will be invested in increasing her business merchandise with special released summer beverages and offered products to satisfy customers needs and increase her sales.

She hopes that in the future she can expand her working place and diversify her displayed products.

She is the lady on the left side of the picture with the yellow top, as for the other group members, Basima is at the center, and Suzan is on the right.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
