A loan of $325 helped buy nylon thread and corn.

Denise's story

Mrs. Denise is a member of Workers Communal Bank and lives in the San Martín region, in the province of Mariscal Cáceres, district of Juanjui. She is 44 years old and lives with her husband and two of her three children who are still dependent on her.

She works making and selling fishing nets and also raises and sells chickens. Her customers come to her house to buy nets that they need because the city is located next to the Huallaga River, which facilitates fishing. She takes the chickens to the market to sell them to people who sell food.

With this loan of 1,000 soles ($325), which she will repay over 6 months, she will buy a large quantity of nylon thread of different sizes to make fishing nets. Many times she sends the nets to customers who live in other places. She will also buy corn to feed her chickens and fatten them for sale.

Denise is happy with the support she has received from Manuela Ramos and the loans have permitted her to grow her business and make additional income for her family. In the future she would like to buy a plot of land to build a house because she house she lives in is rented.

This loan was disbursed on 10/11/08.
The interest rate for the loan is 3.5%.
The monthly payment is 201.70 soles ($66).
