Maa Kali Group's story

Sarojini is a married woman of 44 years who lives in a remote village called M.Rampur in the Kalahandi district of Odisha, India. The lady standing first from the right with her hand raised is Sarojini. She lives with her three-member family comprised of her husband and one son who is about 22 years old. She is very energetic, hardworking and enthusiastic and always devotes her time to get her family ahead.

Sarojini has been doing a rice business as well as a puffed rice business with the support of her husband for the last six years to maintain her family. Initially, she started the business in a low profile with a limited investment. For the expansion of her business, she formed a group and took a loan from Mahashakti during 2013. This is the second loan for her group. Now Sarojini is earning about 5,500 INR per month from her business, which is very scant to manage her family. To add some extra income, the business should grow. For that reason, Sarojini and her group members want another loan. With the loan, Sarojini will purchase paddy in a big quantity. She will process it to rice as well as puffed rice. She has a long cherished desire to build a permanent house for her family.

The other three members of her group, Kalyani, Sukanti and Gouri, are doing a milk business, and oil business and a book shop, respectively.
