Salamatu's story

Salamatu A. is 52 years old, married and mother of five children, who are currently in school. To support her household, she has been selling food products like maize, bags of millet, beans, groundnuts and gari to her loyal customers in the neighborhood. She says that selling these products is very lucrative and therefore she wants to expand her inventory to enable her to make a good income to support her family.

A. is a member of the group called Wadala (Enjoyment) Trust Group. Members agree to guarantee social collateral for each other and to assist one another with the loan repayments. Her picture was taken during their group visit.
