A loan of $775 helped to purchase more veterinary drugs and other items used in the business.

Monica's story

Monica is 30 years old and lives in the town of Kamwenge in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. She has two children with one of them currently in school. For the past seven years, Monica has been working hard to manage her veterinary drug shop, which sells animal drugs.

To help expand her business, Monica has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more veterinary drugs and more items that are used in the business to sell, and will help Monica to generate greater profits and improve the family's welfare. Monica hopes that in the future, she will be able to have a better and healthier family.

Monica is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Monica who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
