María Cecilia's story

In the city of Tosagua, the credit group Las Divas de Tosagua meet every two weeks. This place is known for being very dynamic and the majority of its inhabitants work in agriculture and raising animals, as it is an area of lush vegetation.

In this place lives María. She is 29 years old and in a common-law marriage from which she has three children, ages 9, 8, and 6, who are students. Her husband deals in livestock.

María, the good wife that she is, takes out the loan for herself and for her husband. She works selling Avon and Yanbal products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume, and women's accessories). He works buying and selling livestock for which he travels around the nearby fields to purchase cows or pigs to later bring them to slaughter houses. He sells the meat in local markets and those in nearby cities. She sells her products in the city, she has been selling them for 8 years; with that she earns something for the good of her family.

This loan is to purchase cosmetics, perfumes, creams, and livestock. She has been a part of the credit group for 5 years and she likes it because the loans are very helpful for her family. Her dreams are to have a truck with which her husband can do his work.
