A loan of $1,150 helped to buy grocery commodities.

Edson's story

Edson is 40 years old and lives in the town of Ibanda in the Mbarara region of Uganda. He is married and has 3 children who are all currently in school. For the past 3 years, Edson has been working hard to manage his grocery shop, which sells grocery items like posho, sugar, salt, and soap.

To help expand his business, Edson has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy grocery commodities, and will help Edson to generate greater profits and expand on the business. Edson hopes that in the future he will be able to open up more shops.

Edson is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Edson who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
