A loan of $600 helped to buy maize, beans, rice, flour, sweets, spices, drinks, sugar, salt, and other items.

Ermelinda Elizabeth's story

Ermelina is married. She lives with her 39-year-old husband. She also looks after her 63-year-old mother. She does not have outside economic help. For two years, she has been running a general store. She does not have fixed working hours. She learnt this trade from her family.

She will use the loan to stock her store with the necessary products to satisfy the needs of her customers. She will buy maize, beans, rice, flour, sweets, spices, drinks, sugar, salt, and other items. She hopes to offer better products than her competition, attract new customers, and increase her sales and profits.

Her dream is to have a more profitable business which will allow her to be self-sufficient, offer her family better food and clothing, and keep her mother in good health.
