A loan of $775 helped to buy more shirts and skirts for selling.

Sylvia's story

Sylvia is 28 years old and lives in the town of Kachwamba in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past two years, Sylvia has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells clothes.

To help expand her business, Sylvia has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more shirts and skirts for selling, and will help Sylvia to generate greater profits and take good care of her family by providing enough for basic needs. Sylvia hopes that in the future, she will be able to expand her business into a wholesale shop.

Sylvia is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Sylvia who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
