Harriet's story

Harriet is 24 years old and lives in the the town of Kasubi in the Kampala East region of Uganda. She has no children. For the past two years, Harriet has been working hard to manage her poultry business.

Harriet is requesting a 600,000 UGX loan from BRAC Uganda to buy more chicks. Her loan will help her generate greater profits and add capital to the business. She hopes that in the future she will be able to expand on the business.

Harriet is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
