A loan of $375 helped to maintain his sugar cane crusher for distilling aguardiente.

Jose Paco's story

José Paco is 32 years old and lives with his wife and their two children in the Callayuc district, a community that works in agriculture, sales and ranching. The area has a cold climate, and its people are happy, united and support each other. It is located in the Cutervo province in the Cajamarca region, in the northern mountains of Peru. He works in the village of Cuchea, growing sugar cane and distilling aguardiente, a drink which is made from sugar cane and which he sells in his district and in neighboring villages. He has applied for a loan of 1000 nuevos soles from Edpyme Alternativa for the maintenance of his sugar cane crusher, a traditional tool which facilitates the distillation of the sugar cane juice.
