A loan of $5,275 helped a member to purchase wool in bulk.

Siembra Group's story

The “SIEMBRA” communal group will begin its third loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of Centro Focal de Santiago II, and is comprised of nine members, directed by a board of officers, of which Edith is the president. The businesses that the association members carry out are varied and among them are the sale of blankets, the sale of meat and quilts, sewing bathrobes for young children, a car wash service, a neighborhood store and candy sales.

The loan that they are taking out will benefit the small business owners including Edith. She said that she joined Pro Mujer eight years ago, joining at the invitation of a friend who is a client of the institution. Currently, she has a business selling wool; she said that she has sold this product for a number of years. Upon seeing the diversity and wide sales that this product had in the market in La Paz, she decided to take it up.

The loan that she is now getting is to augment her capital (purchasing wool in bulk) which she will get from the wholesale merchants in the city of La Paz and later will sell in her retail space. This type of work permits her to generate resources to support her family since she is married and has two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the training programs, the loans, and the health area that the institution offers.
