A loan of $125 helped to purchase more bags of gari for resale.

Kadiatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 35-year-old Kadiatu from Kandehtown Bo, Southern area. She is married and has three children. Her children are going to school.

Kadiatu runs a retails business. She sells gari from a small table in a market place. Gari is made from the cassava plant that is grown throughout Sierra Leone. The cassava root is dried and broken up into small ‘gari’ grains. The grains are then boiled into a paste called “acheke,” which is served like rice on the side of the plate to accompany the local spicy stews.

She has been running this business for some years. She works at the business throughout the week. Kadiatu says that her business is doing well.

Kadiatu has requested a loan in order to purchase more bags of gari for resale. The extra income from this loan will allow her to improve her family's condition of living and educate her children. In the future, she plans to build a big shop. She thanks you for your support!
