Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $2,975 helped a member to buy 20 cases of sweetened drinks.

Alpha Group's story

Our client Sanganya is a courageous merchant, member and president of the village financial association “Alpha,” senior entrepreneur, and very dynamic. She is 34 years old, married, and a mother of seven children who all go to school.

This client sells sweetened beverages. She displays her merchandise at a store in the mall, which she rents together with her colleagues in the same business. She started her business with seed capital received from her husband; later, she benefited from a Hekima loan. She has been in this business for eight years.

This new loan will be used to purchase 20 cases of sweetened beverage. This is how she sends her children to school and feeds them. To conclude, she strongly thanks Hekima for helping small entrepreneurs excluded from traditional banking become autonomous.
