Kadiatu's story

Meet Kadiatu. Palm oil is red in color and is the cornerstone of Sierra Leonean cuisine. It is used as the base for spicy stews. Good quality oil is said to be high in antioxidants. The oil is usually sold in yellow plastic cans. Borrowers like Kadiatu save money when they buy their oil in bulk. She is 50 years old from Waterloo Western rural in Freetown. She is married with seven children. Thirty years ago, Kadiatu established her palm oil business. She began her business because she wanted to earn her daily living. She works at the business from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm. She says that her business is doing well.

Kadiatu requires a loan in order to purchase more gallons of palm oil to expand her business. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to repay her loan and increase her business. In the future, Kadiatu plans to expand her business more than ever.
