A loan of $1,100 helped to buy a dairy cow.

María Dolores's story

María is a friendly and helpful member of the communal bank Pucacruz and is in her fifth loan cycle. She lives in the outskirts of the Valle parish in Cuenca, a place of natural beauty due to its location at the top of a mountain. From here you can see the countryside. The locals work in rural jobs such as rearing animals and agriculture and many of them travel to the city every day to do various jobs.

María is 48 years old and has produced 3 children during her marriage. Two of them are now grown up and married, and live independently, while her younger son, who is 17 years old, goes to a local school. Her husband works as a bricklayer and they live in their own house. María does the work she learnt from her parents, which is raising animals. She has pigs, guinea pigs, chickens and cattle. She also grows vegetables to sell and works as a day labourer when called upon.

She will use the money from the loan to buy a dairy cow.

Her goal is to have more animals.
