A loan of $875 helped to buy groceries.

Lourdes Magdalena's story

Lourdes is on her fourth loan cycle alongside her friends and companions of the Pucacruz group. This is a united group who always support each other to move forward, the loans help them to improve their businesses.

Lourdes lives in the outskirts of Valle en Cuenca parish, which enjoys a natural beauty as it is at the top of a mountain, from which one can view the countryside. The people work in country pursuits like raising livestock or agriculture and many go daily to the city for various jobs.

Lourdes is 23 years old, she lives with her common law husband and has two children of 4 and 1 years old and is very excited to be pregnant with her third child. Her husband works in the construction business as a bricklayer. She does not have her own home so lives in her mum’s house.

Lourdes takes care of the home and looks after her children, but to help her husband economically she raises livestock, pigs and guinea pigs. She also grows food for the household and has a small shoe business.

The money from the loan is to buy groceries to start a shop. Her aim is to grow her shop.
