A loan of $6,700 helped a member to buy clothes.

Las Flores (Cuenca) Group's story

The communal bank "Las Flores" is formed by 11 members who live in the city of Cuenca. This city has beautiful architecture, culture and nature which captivates locals and foreigners. The city has a rich and varied gastronomy and their people are kind and cordial.
The members of the communal bank strive every day to provide for their families and loans allow them to inject some capital into their businesses to help them grow. One of the members in this group is Gladys. She is 21 years old, married and has no children. Her husband works as a mechanic. They don't own a house and live in the house of a relative. Gladys works selling clothes and has done this for four years. She buys merchandise in other cities and sells it as a street vendor every day, without a fixed schedule. She also sells via catalog order. She will invest the money from the loan in the purchase of clothes. Her goal is to have a store in which to sell her merchandise.
