Phalla's story

Mrs. Phalla S. is a villager in Sream Chieng Village in Kampong Cham Province. She is a farmer who owns one hectar on which she cultivates rice to earn a living. However, she now faces a problem because she cannot cultivate the rice because she does not have any cows to help her plow her field.

Therefore, she has decided to ask for a loan so she can hire a laborer with two oxen to plow the field. She will also use part of the loan to buy fertilizers to help support the field and make her crops more productive.

Her husband Mr. Suon Sam Oeurn is a palm juice collector. He gathers the palm juice to produce palm sugar.

Mrs. Phalla S. is 28 years old and the mother of two children. The children attend the local school. Her husband is presented on the right of the photo.
