A loan of $3,775 helped a member to buy seeds.

Rositas De Chejecucho Group's story

The “ROSITAS DE CHEJECUCHO” communal bank is beginning its second loan cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Achacachi. It is made up of 10 members and is directed by a board of directors where señora Olinda is President. The communal bank's members have various businesses, among which are: onion sales, potato and freeze-dried potato sales, agriculture, fruit sales, and blanket-weaving.

The loan which they will receive will benefit small micro businesses where señora Olinda is a member. She says that she became part of Pro Mujer one year ago, after the invitation of one of the organisation's promoters, who went to visit her at her home. She currently has a business producing and selling onion - she explains that this was a family business and that when she got married they decided to continue with it.

The loan which she will receive now is for food in times of drought (buying seeds), which she will acquire from the sellers at the El Alto city fairs and grow in her allotment. This way of working allows her to generate income to support her family, as she is married and has a son.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the training that the organisation offers.

There is one member missing from the picture. She went home to look after her livestock.

In this group: Olinda, Elsa , Sonia, Julia , Ceferina, Rosmery, Juan, Alicia *, Asunta Maria, Priscila Reina
