A loan of $3,500 helped a member to buy medicines in bulk.

Jawas Pankatitas Group's story

The communal bank "JAWAS PANKRITAS" will initiate its seventh cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Villa Tejada. The communal bank is made up of nine members, and is led by a board in which Veronica serves as its president. The members of the communal association operate diverse businesses that include a carpentry shop, a pharmacy, a grocery store, newspaper sales and food sales.

The loan they are seeking will benefit the budding micro-business in which Veronica is a member. She says that it has been three years since she joined Pro Mujer, via an invitation from a colleague who is a client of the institution. Currently, she has a pharmacy business; she reveals that she bought the business three years ago with the first loan secured by Pro Mujer, since she had previously studied in this area and had previously worked in an identical business.

The loan she currently requests is for increasing capital (purchasing medicines in bulk), which she will acquire from the pharmacy wholesalers in the city of La Paz and subsequently will sell them in her retail space. This type of work will allow her to generate the resources to support her family, as she is married and has five children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says the training sessions offered by the institution.
