A loan of $1,850 helped a member to buy corn and fish.

Mahugnon Group's story

Mahugnon is an 11-person group whose members live in the same area and are friends. Marie, the group leader, (with her hand raised on the photo) is 59 years old and married to René. The couple has four children, some of them went to school and one is still their dependent. Marie lives together with her husband and child. Together the couple provides for the various household expenses. Marie has been selling corn from her home for about seven years. As a secondary activity, Marie sells fermented corn paste [kom] served with fish. She gets her supplies in a market in Benin. This is the second time that Marie and the other members of the Mahugnon group are requesting the financial support of ALIDé in order to strengthen their working capital and their activity and also to better meet their customers’ demand. The first loan was fully reimbursed.
