Emilia's story

In a rural area of Gokwe North in Zimbabwe we meet Emilia. She is a 32-year-old mother of one who has been successfully running a general store for over two years. At her shop she sells rice, sugar, cooking oil, dishes, and plates. Emilia also cares a lot about her community and wants to give back. Therefore, in her spare time, Emilia volunteers as a community health activist and a Learner Guide at the local secondary school. As a Learner Guide, Emilia increases the quality of education students are receiving by teaching life and study skills. With the requested loan from Kiva, Emilia intends to purchase more items to sell in her shop. Her greatest wish is to be able to give her family a quality life.
