Delia's story

Delia is a very hardworking entrepreneur from Dasmariñas Cavite, Philippines. She is 39 years old and has five children who are currently in school. Genaro, her husband, works as a construction worker. She operates a rug-making business and her income from the business is helping with their everyday needs and expenditures.

She mainly offers rugs; from those round palm-sized ones, to the much larger doormats and other crafts that most rug-makers come up with everyday. As rugs are a major part of Filipino housekeeping and cleaning, rugs are one of the most common products that can be bought, sometimes even from a peddler while you are riding in a speeding jeepney down the highway. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of PHP 1,500 in sales every week.

Delia is taking out PHP 10,000 loan assistance to buy supplies and other materials needed in her business. She will be utilizing the loan to buy more raw materials like fabric, thread and other stuffs, which are necessary to increase her inventory. In the future, she dreams of being successful in life and business. She hopes that she could meet their everyday needs through all her hard work.

She meets up with her co-fellowship* members to share stories of her life and business every week and where she can also draw strength and inspiration from the fellowship and the Word of God she studies.

*All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay Micro Finance loans.
