Zainab's story

Meet Zainab, a 35-year-old woman from Tombo, in the western rural area in Freetown. She is married and has two children. After she got married, Zainab established her business selling clothing material. She began her business because she wants to strive for her daily bread. She works at the business from 8:00am until 5:30 pm, seven days per week. She says that the main challenge to her business is poor customer turn out due to climate change. Zainab requires a loan in order to purchase more wax cotton, lace, and different kinds of clothing material for resale. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to educate her children and improve her standard of living. In the future, Zainab plans to sell palm oil.
