A loan of $225 helped to buy coal and dried fish to sell.

Mary's story

Mary is 48 yrs old, widowed, and lives in the Newtown area of Monrovia, Liberia. She is hardworking and the mother of five children who range in age from 13 to 27 years old. She earns a living by selling dried fish and coal, and has been in this line of work for the last year. She is requesting a loan to expand her business by buying more items to sell. She says that the main problem she faces is her low income. She works for eight hours a day and transports her goods to her sales location by car. Her children gave her the money she used to open her business and she learned her trade by watching people do it every day. Mary enjoys her work because she is able to feed herself and also buy clothes. Her plan for the future is to build a house. She thanks the lenders who help fund this loan.
