A loan of $1,950 helped a member to buy and mill five bags of paddy rice.

Bela N Nabra - Domonaayili Group's story

Ayishetu is an active woman, 40 years old, from Demonayili in the Northern part of Ghana. She is married and has six children. She is the third person squatting and has both hands placed on the milled rice in their group picture.
Ayishetu is a member of a local rice processing group who have been doing the business over the last 19 years. Their group is called ‘Bela N Nabra - Domonaayili’ Women Association. She makes good profits from the business since she and every member of her group have been trained by Grameen Ghana on improving ways of processing and milling locally-produced paddy rice for the local market in Ghana. Their milled rice is sold and consumed around Ghana and they are always in business.
Ayishetu and the group have asked for a loan of GHȼ 6,000. Her share of the loan will help her to buy and mill five bags of paddy rice. By so doing, she would earn more income and hence repay this loan and support her children’s educational and health needs.
