A loan of $1,475 helped a member to increase her working capital and buy a large quantity of fruit (oranges, bananas, blackberries, avocados, etc) for resale.

Amahoro Group's story

Dévote is a member of the Amahoro Group and lives in Bujumbura. She is 35 years old and married to Assumani who is a retailer. Together they have seven children, aged between four and fifteen years old. All their children attend school. She is also responsible for a further five children, from within her extended family, three of these children attend school.

Dévote has been selling fruit (oranges, bananas, blackberries, avocados, etc) for seventeen years. This will be her eleventh loan with the field partner, Turame. She plans to use her loan to increase her working capital and buy a large quantity of fruit (oranges, bananas, blackberries, avocados, etc) for resale. In this way, she hopes to increase her revenue.

In the coming years, Dévote would like to buy a plot of land and see her children study.
