Asha's story

Asha J. has been baking and selling bread in the Mikunguni neighborhood of Zanzibar for one year. She works for six hours every day and earns a profit of approximately $50 each month. She is requesting her first loan from BRAC Tanzania so that she can buy more ingredients and produce more bread. If she is able to increase her profit, she intends to use the additional money to pay her children's school fees, begin saving money, and reinvest in her business.


Asha is 31 years old, married, and has two children, aged 5 and 9.
