Mealii is married and has three children. Two are in school and one is an adult. She owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are for school fees and food. She has operated fish-selling and tailoring businesses for the last two years, selling in the market to her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality in her business. With the loan, she wants to purchase fish, and thread and fabrics, for her businesses. She decided to join Yehu to acquire business financial services.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
