A loan of $2,900 helped a member to buy wallets and purses.

Poderosas (Cuenca) Group's story

The Poderosas (powerful women) loan group is made up of seven members who live in the city of Cuenca. The city is surrounded by four rivers, its historical center maintains the history of the city and it has been known for its cultural heritage of humanity since December of 1999. The people are friendly and charismatic, with big hearts. They are cordial with those they visit and its culture and traditions are still maintained. The people are hard-working, like the members who fight daily to improve financial stability and to support their families.

One of the members of this group is Carmen, who is 26 years old, lives with her partner and has a daughter who is a year and a half. She is very happy because she is pregnant with her second child. Her husband works as a street vendor, and they rent where they live because they do not have their own house.

Carmen works as a street vendor selling wallets and purses. She has been doing this job for two years and she works every day of the week with an irregular schedule. The money from her loan will be spent on purchasing wallets and purses to continue with the business. Her goal is to have her own home.

In this group: Ximena Alexandra, Carmen Lourdes, Yessenia Estefania, Sonia Del Pilar, Zoila Huevenia, Zoila Aurora, María Aurora
